January 15, 2008 Wow, long time no hear... at least from us. Since our last posting much has happend and our season has ended and is only a month away from beginning again. ESRS closed its season at Summit Point with some great racing with NASA. Jason Nolan scored his first season win on the last race of the season and Charlie Turano clinched The first ESRS Title, with Yours Truly (Charlie Greenhaus), and Patrick Page in 2nd and 3rd respectively.
The annual EMRA Summit race weekend was a blast and a very successful one for Entropy. Although not series races, Entropy Fielded 4 cars in the Sprints each day with Turano taking Saturday and Patrick Page and Jason Nolan dueling until Patrick had to briefly pit for a holed radiator. Jeff Ellner rounded out the field both days, while Charlie Greenhaus took Turano's car on sunday and won handily. The weekend clinched the EMRA sprint race Championship for Charlie Greenhaus, while Jon Coffin had already locked up the Time trial championship earlier in the season.
For me, and I know certainly Jeff Ellner the highlight of the year (And I suspect his entire racing history) was our 4th place overall finish in the 4 hour twilight enduro. Jeff led the team while Gerry Byrnes (a previous winner of this race), and Charlie Greenhaus Shared driving duties. Jeff was exceedingly competetive and we were all solid with no spins, contact or errors to mention, and followed our team mates Turano, Page, and Nolan by a mere 2 laps at the end of 4 hours. Turano's team scored an impressive 2nd overall.

ESRS #10 Pocono North with EMRA was a nice event with an exciting day of racing. With the handicaps pretty well established the field has been running pretty evenly. Bill Giltzow made his 3rd appearance of the season and took the pole from Patrick Page. Charlie T was 3rd on the grid with Charlie G and Jeff Ellner rounding out the 5 car field. With a small overall field there was less traffic for the ESRs to deal with and the race came down to pure lap times and consistancy. The beginning of the race had all 5 cars in close quarters with Giltzow and Page fighting for first and Turano and Greenhaus pushing each other for the #3 spot while Jeff ran his most competitive dry race ever, keeping the leaders clearly in sight until we began to lap traffic. In the end Giltzow could not be beat and the field finished exactly as it qualified.
This day also included a 2 hour Enduro which Patrick and Charlie T shared in Patrick's car. As the race began Patrick got a great start and was in 3 rd overall at the beginning turning consistant 1:05s and holding position against all cars except for a 600HP pro truck and a Porsche 911 Turbo. this all changed when the rain began to fall.... and boy did it change. While the truck had to pit for rain tires the Porsche stayed out and braved the elements, Patrick just ran away and hid. as the rain got heavier he lapped the entire field and stretched our a comfortable lead. by the time he handed the car over to Charlie T. As Charlie T ran solid laps trying to preserve the lead on a drying track, a backmarker in a Datsun 510 spun and dangerously re-entered the track directly in front of Charlie dashing our victory, and our front bodywork, suspension and radiator, to bits. Everyone was fine and the car will be ready for the next event

It has been AGES since I have been able to sit down and keep everyone up to date so I will zip through the next 7 races and tell you about what else is new within the next week or so.
ESRS #2 & #3 Beave Run brought out 6 cars and the racing was great. on Saturday Charlie Turano winning the race handily after Charlie Greenhaus had to pit for a puncture, offering the second place spot to Jason Nolan while Paul Levine got the #3 spot while Jeff ellner inherited 4th from Greenhaus. Charlie G captured fast lap for the race over charlie T by .016 seconds. Sunday brought another driver into the mix with Bill Giltzow joining the fray. Qualifying had it Charlie G, Bill Giltzow, Charlie T, Jason Nolan, Paul Levine and Jeff ellner. The race finished in the same order but on the other hand it was far from boring. Greenhaus took the lead early with Turano and Giltzow in hot pursuit. through the race each of the 3 held the lead at some point and on the last lap there was less than a half second separating the three. Fast lap again went to Greenhaus but only by .2 seconds over Giltzow
ESRS #4&5 Summit was the next stop for the series and what a wild ride it was. Saturday's race was cut short due to a multi car incedent involving series newcomer Patrick Page, Charlie Greenhaus and a legends car and 2 hondas. With the track blocked and the schedule tight NASA rolled back the results to the previous lap which gave Charlie T his third victory of the season, Charlie G second, Patrick page took the last podium spot while Jason Nolan, Frank Shober, and Jeff Ellner rounded out the field. Sunday was one of the most exciting races of the year with 4 different leaders at least 10 lead changes and a great finish proving that the handicap system was working for everyone. Qualifying had Jason Nolan on the pole with Shober, Turano, Page, and Ellner in hot pursuit. That all changed when the flag dropped with Each of the top four battling for position and in the end the results were Page, Turano, Shober, Nolan, and Ellner. This race began with Turano starting with a 800 RPM handicap while the rest of the field was at the full 5600 red line.
ESRS #6 & #7 Lime Rock Park. Lime Rock brought sweltering weather for the first race on friday with 5 cars in attendance for this NASA N-E event. Turano struggled with a difficult handicap at 46OO RPM leaving the door open at the end of the main straight for anyone who could hang with him through turn 10. Greenhaus got the pole with a 5000 rmp rev limit with Shober , Page and Levine filling our the field. As with the past weekend, Positions swapped often with Greenhaus and Shober breaking away from the field and Turano and Page doing their best to keep up. early in the race Shober made a crafty move on Greenhaus to take the lead but then lost it when Greenhaus read upcoming traffic better and stretched out a significant lead. Although 1st was locked in for Greenhaus (assuming he made no mistakes) The second place spot was up for grabs and with Page Turano and Shober dueling it out it came to the last lap with Shober earining a slight lead over Turano and Page. Saturday's weater cooled after a great rain the night before and times dropped as well. Turano gained back 200 RPM while Greenhaus lost 400 for his win leaving them both at 4800 with Shober at 5400 and Page at 5400 and Ellner and Levine at 5600. Grid position was Turano, Greenhaus, Page, Shober, Levine and Ellner. As with our other races, qualifying just means that you get be first for a lap wiile you follow the pace car. Once the flag dropped it all got mixed up again. Charlie T and Patrick Page took off and Frank Shober and Charlie G paired up to do battle for 3rd and 4th respectively .Jeff Ellner decided to put pressure on Paul levine at the back. Unfortunately for Jeff his overly enthusiastic efforts to get past Paul in the left hander led to a spin and an early retirement. At theother end of the field things heated to a boil at the front when Charlie T tried an inside pass in the downhill, had minor contact and lost 2 (if not 3) positions. Greenhaus took advantage of the slowed Turano and Page to inherit the lead. at the midway point. with the field a little stretched out Charlie G spent the remainder of the race trying to hold of Page but on the last lap lost the lead and the race when Patrick pulled off an amazing outbraking pass in turn 1. Fast lap went to greenhaus with a blistering 1:03.9 but fast lap doesn't win a race. Results show that the previous day's win was done with the 4th fastest lap.
ESRS #8 & #9 Summit Point. this event was lightly attended (probably due to the August heat) with the 2 Charlies Jeff and Paul in attendance. WIth this turnout we decided to make the event a training event working with Paul and Jeff on speed and technique. Jeff took the coaching and turned it into 2 3rd place finishes, besting Paul for the first time this season, while The Charlies swapped wins with a rediculous 4400RPM handicap for both drivers on sunday.

ESRS Race #1
The Entropy Sports Racing Series held its first race of the season with EMRA yesterday and what a race it was. the winner was no suprise with Charlie T leading flag to flag with fast lap and about a half lap lead on second place. The rest of the field swapped positions all race long and the finish was not certain until the flag dropped.
Qualifying had Charlie T 1st with Jason Nolan in 2nd, Bill Giltzow in 3rd, Rich Bell 4th, Charlie G in 5th, and Jeff Ellner rounding out the field. Then the flag dropped and it all changed, Rich missed a shift at the start, and Charlie G and Jeff sailed past while Charlie G muscled his way to 2nd by turn 3. While Charlie T was checking out never to be seen again, Jason and Billy were hunting Charlie G. First Bill then Jason got by and while Bill made it stick and took the second spot on the podium, Jason Spun in traffic and gave third to Greenhaus. Unfortunately for Jeff he had to retire with overheating problems but Richie wasn't so quick to accept 4th and challenged, passed and then promptly lost it in 4 trying to keep Greenhaus at bay.
Final results Turano 1st with fast lap of 54.3 , Giltzow 2nd, Greenhaus 3rd, Bell 4th, Nolan 5th, and Ellner 6th.
Next Race: BeaveRun with EMRA. Charlie T will start with a 400 RPM handicap and Bill gets a 200 RPM handicap for his next race
